Online credit card needs differ dramatically between people, so take some time to consider what would be right for you. There are a few questions you can ask yourself to narrow down the features you will value most in an online credit card.

Will I use the card often?

If you will use the card more often than once per two months, or once per year for large purchases, then this won't narrow anything down. Less use than this could mean you'd benefit most from an online credit card with no annual fee. Usually they include no interest free days and a high interest rate, but if you intend to immediately repay anything you spend on it, then this could work out cheaper than a low annual fee credit card. If you think you will delay your repayments slightly, then a low annual fee online credit card may be the way to go, as this will usually provide you with interest free days and should only cost you about $24 per year.

Will I repay the card regularly?

This is a deciding factor in whether you will benefit from a low interest rate or from a reward program. Paying the card off within an interest free period means the entire balance. If you believe you will use your credit card more as a line of credit than a convenient means of payment, then you will likely benefit most from a low interest rate.

If, on the other hand, you usually only spend within your ability to repay in an interest free period, then a reward program online credit card could let you live it up in style. If you only end up paying the annual fee each year and regularly use your credit card to spend, you should easily be able to rack up reward points to help pay for your next holiday.
