Westpac Altitude Gold Credit Card Review

It's the familiar Altitude card clients have come to enjoy so much -- only better.

Westpac Bank Altitude Gold Card, issued by the Westpac Banking Corporation, brings together the perks that come with the Westpac Altitude Card with a wide array of better, more exciting benefits.

The card offers no-cost insurance benefits (such as Purchase Security and Extended Warranty and Overseas Travel insurances), a greater credit freedom than the standard Altitude and a virtually no-holds-barred access to a Priority Service Line (the number: 1300-367-228). Such a feature-laden package only comes with a $150 yearly fee and a 18.79% pa interest rate. Like the Altitude card, it has up to 45 days of interest free credit buys.

Apply between January 5 and September 30, 2007, and successful applicants will automatically get 10,000 bonus Altitude points. The bonus Altitude points will, however, be included to a cardholder's account within two months after his initial use of his card.

The card comes in either the Altitude American Express Card or the Altitude MasterCard. The card is a recipient of the Money magazine award. The card's absolutely free insurances work this way:

*Overseas Travel Insurance. This comprehensive insurance covers travels made within three months and is issued by Zurich Australian Insurance Limited. Cardholders and their family members traveling with them will get the following perks: coverage on lost travel papers, luggages, and personal belongings for up to $15,000, personal liability coverage of up to $2.5 million, and theft excess as well as rental vehicle accident damages for $5,000 at most.

* Purchase Security Insurance and Extended Warranty Insurance. Cardholders get up to 90 days of no-cost Purchase Security Insurance in case their newly-purchased items were stolen, lost, or damaged. The feature is available in Australia and other destinations. Card holders who purchase domestic appliances using their card in Australia may qualify for an Extended Warranty Insurance that can last for a year, absolutely without paying a single cent.
